Avery Gilliam Real Estate, LLC opened as an independent real estate marketing and sales firm in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi in 2002. Before that, J. Michelle Gilliam-Avery originally owned and operated, with Lynn Avery in 1997-2000, the Avery Gilliam Real Estate and Construction, Inc. company in Memphis, Tennessee, building and selling renovated and new construction projects in the two historical communities of The Evergreen District and Cooper-Young. J. Michelle Gilliam-Avery, with Lynn Avery, relocated to the Mississippi Gulf Coast in 2000.
In 2004, J. Michelle Gilliam-Avery opened a second office location in Pass Christian.
Proudly, in March 2005, Avery Gilliam Real Estate, LLC was recognized by the MS Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce for our positive growth and contributions to the business community by awarding Avery Gilliam Real Estate, LLC a merit award for the first ever Tapestry Award, recognizing best new small businesses. Soon after, on August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina caused the loss of both office locations, and like the rest of the community began the efforts to recover. Through the recovery process, J. Michelle Gilliam-Avery and Avery Gilliam Real Estate, LLC continued in business without interruption and serviced local and out-of-state clients to market, sell and buy real estate in Mississippi.
In 2007, the national economy was significantly affected by negative changes in the economy. Bank foreclosures began to drive the markets across the state. Avery Gilliam Real Estate, LLC was an established foreclosure real estate asset marketing, management and sales expert with established relationships with various financial institutions and asset management companies, so Avery Gilliam Real Estate, LLC and J. Michelle Gilliam-Avery were one of the go-to real estate firms to manage, list and sell the increased inventory of foreclosures. Avery Gilliam Real Estate, LLC managed and listed properties across the state of Mississippi including the areas of the south MS Gulf Coast region, the southwest region of Mississippi, the central areas in and around Jackson, MS, and the north-east area of Mississippi, known as the Golden Triangle. We managed and listed for sale, Fannie Mae properties and other third-party real estate assets. We were in charge of securing, cleaning, maintenance, marketing, regular inspections and valuation reports, writing contracts, negotiations, and handling the sale transactions to close. Through these periods and subsequent years, Avery Gilliam Real Estate, LLC made several location changes as we adjusted to the recovery of the area and personally from the results of Hurricane Katrina. Much of our work became more internet based, just as the larger areas of the nation and the local areas were learning the newer and ever-changing internet communication and date service evolution. J. Michelle Gilliam-Avery has earned multiple Top Producer Awards given by the MS Gulf Coast Association of REALTORS for top sales in the MS Coastal region.
The oil-spill of 2010 rocked our real estate area market, but Avery Gilliam Real Estate, LLC and J. Michelle Gilliam-Avery, with her staff, kept working through these tough times and continued to sell properties.
As of 2016, Avery Gilliam Real Estate, LLC opened the new office location in the Diamomdhead shopping center at 4402 E. Aloha Dr., Suite 13. We service, primarily, the south Mississippi Gulf Coast areas. We market and sell residential, lots/land/acreage, and commercial properties. We can and will work any real estate transaction needed anywhere in the state of Mississippi.
